An Allegory is a peace of art or Literature like a poem or story, in which people things or happenings have a hidden symbolic meaning. Character and events in it represent particular qualities or ideas that relates to morals, religion or politics. An Allegory is narrative which may be prose or poetry. The main objective of an Allegory is to preach some kind of moral lesson.

      "Animal Farm" written by George Orwell is an Allegory.The actions of the animals on the farm are used to expose the greed and corruption of the revolution.

   Allegory can be Historical, Political and Religious. 

  • Bunyan's "The Pilgrim's Progress",
  • Swift's "Gulliver's Travels" are the best example of an Allegory
