Biography and Autobiography
Biography and autobiography are two traditional form of literature that describe the character sketch and course of the life of a person.
A biography is the story of person's life in the words of another person , while an autobiography is the story of a person's life in his own words. A biography is typically written in third person while an autobiography is written in first person.
The eighteen century in england is the age of emergence of the full scale biography. Even ancient Greek and Roman third their hands to write formal lives of individuals. Izaak Walton's "Lives" is the best example of that time.
The word autobiography was first used by William Taylor in 1797 in "The Monthly Review". The Writer writes autobiography for his own use and pleasure. Augustine's "Confessions" is the first fully developed autobiography . Some of the most famous autobiographies include "The diary of a Young Girl" by Anne Frank, Night, Long walk to freedom. Famous biographies include 'John Adams' and 'Team of Rivals'.
