The Road Not Taken

‘The Road Not Taken' is one of the most popular poem by Robert Frost. Robert Frost was an American poet. He become one of America’s rare "public literary figures, almost an artistic institution".  His famous poems include :
  • Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening
  • Mending well
  • Nothing Gold Can Stay
  • Fire and Ice
  • After apple picking and more

The poem "The Road Not Taken" Conveys the idea that there is never a straight path in life Everyone is a traveller and has a lot of options everyone has to make one from multiple choice. There are two roads in life one is meant for the ordinary people. The other is meant for the extraordinary people. In the beginning, when we look at them, they appear to be similar. But as we go deeper and deeper down the path, we see that he makes confirms what he is and what he will be. The two roads symbolise the choices Governing man’s personal, social and professional life.

In the autumn season, a traveller was passing through a forest After a short distance, the road divided into two different directions. He looked at one of the road very carefully. It was a beaten path. The other path was less used. He decided to go on the less trodden path after much contemplation. However, he still feared wished to travel the road not taken.

The traveller thought he would travel on the other road on. But he knew very well that it is not possible to go back in the past.

Many years later, the traveller remembers the two roads of the past, and regrets for not having chosen the other road our future depends. On the choice of the road made all the difference in his life.
The poem is optimistic and gives the message that if one chooses a road in life, we must be ready to suffer the consequences of that choice.
